yeah, i know everyone nods off from time to time. but does everyone regularly do this? not once a day even, but in every freaking class they take?
cause i do.
the shutting of the eyes, the leaning on the arm, the falling asleep sitting up, the sprawling out over the desk. i've even been known to nod off while standing up during my botany lab.
i thought i had it under control this semester. i thought if i cut out my morning classes, i would be fine and dandy. so i enrolled in a few night classes, aimed for the recommended 8 to 9 hours of nightly rest, and prayed to suddenly become inspired enough by the inner workings of plants to stay awake for 50 minutes of lecture.
then there was my history of religion class last night, where all of my hopes for an alert, scholarly future were dashed. one minute, i'm sitting there pondering the wonders of buddhism, the next minute, i'm giving my religion book a thorough face-first examination.
but not only that. apparently, this time i decided to keep right on taking notes after i started to doze off. according to what i took down during lecture:
"nirvana - the snuffing out of the self. i would have done it earlier but i had to go to target."
fantastic. i'll be sure to add sleepwriting to my list of hobbies and special skills.
meanwhile, i'm trying to come up with some way to keep myself awake for one entire class. at first i was thinking of just bringing a six pack of diet coke to every class, but then i decided i'd rather make one of those beer helmets and fill it up with sweet caffeinated goodness. any suggestions?
