ok, a minor milestone. we're moving out of the apartment this week.
i think i'm somewhat nostalgic. wait, no. this has officially been the apartment from hell.
i wrote earlier about our initial problems with this place, but it's really only gone downhill from there. the broken dryer? still broken. i am now on a first name basis with the maintenance people from their frequent visits to our apartment. each time, they would temporarily revive the dryer long enough for me to almost get one load completely done.
while nothing else ever really broke over the semester, i did have several interesting encounters with our charming building-mates.
for example.
i wake up and head to the gym promptly at 7:00 am each morning. well, 7:15-ish. this morning, i discovered the path down the stairs to my car was inconveniently blocked - by an unconscious male. in-between the second and third floors he lay sprawled across the entire width of the staircase, beer cans scattered at his feet, and a suspicious puddle to his left. furthermore, my young friend of the morning had apparently not only forgotten to go home the night before, he had also forgotten to wear hardly any clothes on his journey out. i peeked over the railing to survey the damage, and saw that he had thankfully managed to put on a pair of barely-there, worn to death boxers.
not anxious to disturb our visitor, i cautiously crept down the stairs and nudged him with one of my sneakers. no response. i bent down and patted his shoulder. he squinted at me, and closed his eyes.
"are you ok?" i asked.
"UGGGGGHHHHHHrrrggggg."
"um.. where do you belong?" i asked.
"mmmmmmmm."
although my drunk little friend was unable to answer my questions or remove himself from my stairwell before i left, he had disappeared when i returned. all i have to remember him by is a few semi-crushed cans of natty light. and, one cannot forget, the mysterious puddle.
never before has the sorority looked so good.
goodbye drunk boy, goodbye defective appliances, and goodbye apartment.
