happy 7th of july!

a lesser known holiday, yes. but important all the same.

lauren and i spent the 4th watching the same fireworks show we attend every year, at the country club i lifeguarded at last summer.

i must confess, i wasn't the greatest lifeguard. unless the kids in the pool were doing something terribly entertaining, i usually found myself gazing at the clouds, or my toenails, or attractive young men on the golf course.

but working at the pool was fun and not altogether unlike my job at the shoe store. lifeguarding involved a lot of sitting and chatting and general inactivity-for-money. however, i was also rewarded with a deep, golden tan. now, i am forced to comfort myself with deep, golden tan sandals.

but i digress.
