casey and i headed up to oklahoma city last night to see the red hot chili peppers concert. but i wasn't there for the red hot chili peppers.
now don't get me wrong, the show was great. i especially enjoyed watching the men in their mid-thirties desperately clinging to their youth as they ripped off their shirts and formed a mosh pit below us. i would, however, like to request that the man in his mid-fourties desperately clinging to his beer try to keep things a little more under control next time. i realize it might be somewhat difficult to sing "californication" into your pretend microphone *and* hold on to your little plastic beer cup, but my sandals really could have gone without the frothy showers you so generously provided. anyway, yeah, great concert. super.
but the true high point of the evening was the opening act. snoop dogg. or as i have taken to calling him, snoop dogg: the experience.
from the moment we took our seats, i realized it was going to be unlike anything i had seen before. hanging above the stage was a picture of snoop with a sinister sneer that read "paid tha cost to be tha bo$$." obviously, this wasn't just any rap concert, this was hardcore. i was about to be shizzolated. or something.
maybe it had something to do with the massive cloud of weed swirling around my head, but during the song "beautiful" i discovered my true ambition in life. as i watched girls from the audience join snoop on stage, i realized that i, kristin madpony, belonged on that stage. i was destined to be a member of the bunch snoop fondly referred to as his "snoopadelics."
i spent the rest of the show analyzing each of the snoopadelics to figure out where i fit in. i was immediately drawn to the two large, burly men simply standing at each side of the stage. being neither large nor burly, i set my sights on the fourty year old man in tube socks stumbling back and forth across the stage doing a little dance casey and i later named the "homeless man hand jive." but later i found out that guy is snoop's uncle, and i am pretty certain snoop and i aren't actually related. i think our powerful bond is more of a soul connection than a blood connection. finally, i saw the perfect person to model my snoopadelic persona after. he was dressed from head to toe in neon green, with shiny black shoes, and large sunglasses. he wiggled on the side of the stage, pausing every once in awhile to take a sip from his bejeweled goblet.
so if you ever see snoop in concert, look for kritty dawg.* i'll be shaking it on stage left in my madpony pink miniskirt and tube tob, with diamond stilettos.
just look for the rhinestone diet coke can. you can't miss me.
