this is classics. it's like sonic, only without all the free coneys.it's summer in madpony land, and since every decent summer has a scandal, let me present you with

sonicgate 2003

many of you might be familiar with sonic drive-in. casey and i have become more familiar with sonic as of late. you see, in the past three days, we've had no less than ten meals courtesy of this very restaurant.

why, may you ask? why would we abandon our standby favorites of arbys, wendy's, and most importantly, classic 50's?

because we have never-ending coupons.

let me explain.

my mother, that sweet woman, gave me a book of buy-one-get-one-free coupons from our local sonic drive-ins. naturally, being college students and generally poor, immediately decided to make the best of our good fortune. we decided to cash in our buy-one-extra-long-coney-get-one-free sticker a few nights ago for dinner. the sonic girl strolled up to our car with her tray, we paid, she handed us our food, smiled, and skipped off.

and she didn't ask for the coupon. suddenly, one free extra-long-coney had become *two* free extra-long-coneys. and a brilliant scheme was born.

we drove to a second sonic in norman. surely, this was just a mistake. surely, this was just the bad move of one teenage carhop on skates. using our buy-one-single-topping-sundae-get-one-free coupon, we timidly pressed the button, placed our order, and hoped for the best. once again, the sonic girl delivered our order.

and once again, she didn't ask for the coupon.

apparently this isn't just a singular phenomenon, because my roommate conner has been scamming sonic in the exact same way.

free food totals thus far:

free extra long cheese coneys: 5
free single topping sundaes: 2

i'm converting the neglected hall of fame into a scoreboard. stay tuned for more from sonicgate 2003.

we're taking them for all they're worth, one coney at a time.
