i loved the show ally mcbeal.
as a zany pre-law student, i always felt strangely in tune with the zany pretend lawyer and her zany pretend adventures.
the thing i most appreciated about ally was her constant mental soundtrack. although i'm not entirely certain i could write a movie about my life, and even less entirely certain that it would be very interesting, i could easily compile a soundtrack. there are so many songs forever intertwined with my past years, events, or moments. picking music for The Kristin Show would take but minutes.

kristin, in dress-up, runs spastically around the front yard, dives through the sprinklers, and returns to serving the one weekly customer, an elderly neighbor, at her koolaid stand.
"i just called to say i love you" - stevie wonder
"teddy bear picnic" - who knows
enter lauren. needing to once again capture the attention of her parents, kristin begins an era of endless plays, dances, and acrobatic displays in the living room with a captive (literally and figuratively) audience of mom.
"hangin' tough" - new kids on the block
"two of a kind" - garth brooks
the dance studio years, also known as the last time kristin wore spandex in public on a semi-regular basis.
"free your mind" - en vogue
"color me badd" - color me badd (<--from oklahoma!)
"vision of love" - mariah carey
katie, best friend and young savior, introduces kristin to music that does not suck and an obsession is born.
"yesterday" - beatles
"eleanor rigby" - beatles
"strawberry fields forever" - beatles
the junior high years - omitted due to the absolute dorky heights achieved during this time. no one wants to remember these things.
flouncing about the high school parking lot, kristin waves at classmates in car after car of thundering bass.
"country grammar" - nelly
"big pimpin" - jay z
"wanna be a baller" - lil troy
kristin, post-senior year and early college, is perched at her computer examining the wonder that was napster and the equally wondrous music she found there.

the ghosts of boyfriends past, in no particular order, and the songs they consequently ruined.
