isn't it lovely?
i've lived in this gorgeous home for almost a year now. it's been mostly fun.
there have been many pros and cons to living in the sorority. many.
i guess the largest and most obvious pro is being able to live in a massive, ornate, lavishly decorated, turn-of-the-century monstrosity less than a block from most of my classes. plus, there's the added fun of sharing a home with one hundred other girls. someone is always watching a movie, someone is always fixing a snack in the kitchen. someone is always awake. it's always a party. and i can't complain about having a support staff facilitating our every move. people cook for us, people serve our food, people clean for us, people sort our mail, people plant those pretty little flowers in front of the house for us. it's an easy life. i live in princess land.
of course, living in princess land can be problematic. princesses come and go freely, at all times of the night, and giggle and shriek and yell despite the fact that their co-princesses might possibly be trying to get some rest. our beautiful old mansion has its drawbacks as well, including a faulty air conditioner and disappearing hot water. and the rules are extremely strict, especially when it comes to visitors. lauren spent the night once, but even little sister sleepovers violate the visitation curfew of 1:00 am. and guys are only allowed upstairs on special days of the year, mainly the day we move in and the day we move out. which means that the men in my life, including dad, have seen my room maybe only once. it's catholic boarding school for girls in their twenties.
despite any possible drawbacks, living in the sorority is generally quite enjoyable. that is, until you transform from one of the giggling girls to one of the girls trying to ignore them.
when finals week rolls around, the sorority house is no place to be.
and finals week is thundering around the corner.
i have a headache, and it's two in the morning. could you ask them to keep it down?
i guess i could just leave.
i've been thinking of relocating to this tree.
just me and the squirrels.
