i have learned many things during this past week of midterms.

i've discovered that russell dalton has many interesting things to say about citizen-level politics in america that don't particularly make sense to me.

i've found that, once your trial version of bounce out expires, minesweeper is truly the answer to avoiding the accomplishment of anything school-related or constructive whatsoever.

i've decided that midterm week is really a large-scale conspiracy plotted by each of my professors in an attempt to push me past the bounds of sanity.

and i've realized that teddy bears truly make the very best pillows.

oh yes. i have learned many things during this past week of midterms. i'm just not sure if any of them are remotely useful.

so what has kept me from a leap out my third story window during my educational turmoil?

a secret, of the sorority kind. and since this guy keeps telling me that all of you are simply dying to hear details of my very own sorority life, i thought i'd let you in on this little tidbit.

during times of particularly difficult college girl strife, a certain girl in our house prints up pages of inspirational sayings to raise the moral of the house. not out of the goodness of her heart, mind you, these sheets of happiness are actually the main duty of this particular officer.

and where, might you ask, does she share these bits of wisdom with us?

on the back of each of the bathroom stall doors.

i confiscated one of these pages to share with each of you. here it is, completely unedited and uncensored for your pleasure.

enjoy. try to imagine the cutesy floral stationary it's on. try not to be scared by the fact that a house full of 20 year old girls are already focusing on marriage advice. and if you aren't uplifted, you should appreciate the complete hilarity of the whole thing.

with my cynical between-tests mood, i certainly did.

Food for Thought

Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

When you say, "I love you," mean it.

When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.

Believe in love at first sight.

Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

In disagreements, fight fairly. Please No name calling.

Don't judge people by their relatives.

Talk slowly but think quickly.

When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"

Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.

When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

Remember the three R's:
Respect for self;
Respect for others;
Responsibility for all your actions.

Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

Spend some time alone.
