anyone catch the game?
just in case you didn't..
oklahoma, 60-15.
i spent most of the day at work on campus corner, where students, ex-students, and oklahoma enthusiasts of all kinds congregate before the game.
especially the ultra-enthusiasts. take, for example, this lovely gentleman i'm pictured with.
yes, that is all face paint.
i really wish you could see his cape.
there were four of us handling the traffic at work, including my very kind boss, who allowed me to slip away from our crowded little store to grab a diet coke, browse sooner merchandise offered by the street vendors, navigate my way through the throngs of drunken fraternity boys and drunken ex-fraternity boys, and *most importantly* take these valuable pictures of true sooner love for you.
and i mean true sooner love.
i'm sure everyone enjoys me writing about sports almost as much as they enjoy this guy writing about politics, but seriously.
i really, truly wish every single one of you went to OU.
i wish you all had the pleasure of spending four years at a football school.
in football heaven.
because there is no way i can explain this kind of phenomenon to anyone who didn't. no way i could do it justice.
no way you'd ever believe that my whole sorority was up early and tuned in to the michigan/ohio state game to lend support via screams at the tv for michigan, just so we might have a better chance at the fiesta bowl and the national championship.
no way you'd believe the car flags, the fans who come every game from out of state, the face paint, the costumes, the crimson and cream at every turn, the screams from the stadium i can hear with my windows closed, or the completely deserted sorority house because every girl is somewhere glued to the game.
not because it's cute, not to impress the boys.
because we care.
you should have seen the way this campus shut down last year after the huge upset with our in-state arch rivals, oklahoma state. classes were empty that monday. nate hybl went into hiding. a huge, dark cloud of depression descended over every building and every classroom and every person.
we play them again on saturday. wish us luck.
not that we'll need it. :D
